Hey,
I have a VM of Red Hat Linux 6.0 (to clarify, I'm talking about the discontinued home distribution, not RHEL) running in VMware Workstation 12 Player. It's working, but X is limited to 640x480x16, and I'd like to increase the resolution and colour depth. According to this support article, better resolutions require the VMware Tools. Sadly, installation of the current VMware Tools using the menu option immediately fails:
[root@localhost vmware-tools-distrib]# ./vmware-install.pl

Is it still possible to obtain a version of VMware Tools which is intended for a guest distro this old? Would it be compatible with modern VMware? Help would be much appreciated.
