Recently we've been getting BSOD's on server 2012. Microsoft is still investigating, but it seems likely vmxnet3 drivers are involved. As such, we would like to update them.
However, since we are extremely busy on a project right now, we would like to avoid fully updating vcenter and ESX (if at all possible). My question therefore is, can we update purely the VMXNET3 driver to the latest version on our VM's? Or perhaps only VMWare tools? Or is there a possibility for stability/performance issues if you don't keep everything on the same version?
