Virtual Machine guest crashed

Hello,

One one of our client servers crashed a few days . The server is running server 2008 r2. The server is a Xendesktop 7 server where multiple users connect to it using Citrix. The server  has 12 Gigs of ram and 2 vcpu's. In normal production the server usually uses 10 to 15% CPU usage , however, on the 9th of March the CPU spiked to 100%. After rebooting twice it was functioning normally and the issue has not happened since.

Upon looking into the event viewer, We noticed that alot of VMware tools errors:

VMware Tools 1000 None [ warning] [vmusr:vmusr] Channel restart failed [1]

Warning 3/9/2015 11:36:47 AM VMware Tools 1000 None [ warning] [vmusr:unity] ToolsOnLoad: Unity Plugin failed to initialize.

Warning 3/9/2015 11:36:47 AM VMware Tools 1000 None [ warning] [vmusr:vmusr] vmware::tools::UnityPlugin::Initialize: Unable to initialize Unity update channel.

Warning 3/9/2015 11:36:47 AM VMware Tools 1000 None [ warning] [vmusr:vmusr] vmware::tools::UnityUpdateChannelInit: RpcOut_start() failed

The other alert that we got was: This was for only one of the users connected to the server.

Warning 3/9/2015 11:36:46 AM Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy 1112 None The Group Policy Client Side Extension Group Policy Drive Maps was unable to apply one or more settings because the changes must be processed before system startup or user logon. The system will wait for Group Policy processing to finish completely before the next startup or logon for this user, and this may result in slow startup and boot performance.

Would it be one of the above two causing the whole server to crash or a combination of both.
