At preset we have almost 200 windows OS guest VMs mixed in with all of our DEV, QA, and STAGING server environments. While resources are too much of an issue... should we break off a couple hosts into a "workstation" type cluster?
We have a resource pool in place for the workstation OS's so there is some control in place.
My concerns are:
- Causing constraints on business servers
- HA event causing workstations to powerup before servers
I know 1 big benefit would be MS licensing... that we wouldn't be paying for windows server OS licensing on dedicated workstation hosts.
Thoughts?
