VMware Tools in Linux CLI Enviroment

What are the advantages of installing VMware Tools in a Linux CLI environment?

Currently running CLI versions of Ubuntu 14 LTS & SCO OpenServer 5

Presume that the shutdown of Linux is handled by API (but not found any documents to confirm the specifics)

I've read documentation here but want to confirm if there are any features that are specifically required for CLI?

Advantages listed on documentation are:

  • Low video resolution
  • Inadequate color depth
  • Incorrect display of network speed
  • Restricted movement of the mouse
  • Inability to copy and paste and drag-and-drop files
  • Missing sound
  • Provides the ability to take quiesced snapshots of the guest OS
  • Synchronizes the time in the guest operating system with the time on the host

I understand that installing VMware tools is best practice but really wanted to confirm "why" in CLI environment.

Thanks,
